Euro Tour April 2006 - Brussel, Belgium

Depart Luxembourg at 3.05pm heading to Brussell
After calling sooo many Hotels looking for accommodation, we found vacancy in Ibis Brussel Airport. All other Hotels in the city is full.
Arrived in the hotel at 7.47pm. We settle for the night
Destination : Brussel
Objectives : Brussel City and Mini Europe/Atomica

After breakfast, we start the tour, this time we took the tour bus to optimized the coverage area and also coz we were too tired to walk anymore.
Small attractive park surrounded by so number of statues representing the working class in Brussel
?Castle....don't care anymore

The famous Atomica
An actual replica of an atom blown up to the size of this massive super-structure
Tourist can actually go up into one of the many spherical structure. Too long of a queue to wait.
At the base of the Atomica. There was a 'wheel of fortune-like' game nearby and all 3 of us each won the 3 pairs of lousy slippers. What a fortune!!
Arrived there early. This car park was full with cars at the time we head back to town
The Famous Mini Europe
miniaturized building made to the exact replica of all the famous building in Europe
Moving boats, tied to the motorized tract at the bottom of the pool
Moving windmills and cars, erupting volcanoes all well simulated here

The one and only.The famous peeing statue. The Maneken Piss
Soo tiny yet soo much water coming out
Looking at it making me feel like 'going' too
There are also Jeneken Piss (his sister) and a pissing dog somewhere not so close by which we could not find
A chocolate shop next door made same replica in Chocolate in display
The Choc Factory, recommended place by the Lonely Planet Tourist Guide Book
The shop manager said this is the place most people took picture...so we concur
Individually carved statues on the building
Main Square in Brussell with pictures of all four corners plus extra
Main Cathedral in the square
Few shops selling paintings and drawings
Hunger started to creep in. We went into the alleys behind the square to look for food. This is where the book said good restaurant supposed to be.
Lots of seafood restaurants and Halal as well. We had the famous oyster and Chips meal. One bucketful each to finish

In certain area in Brussell, because of the multiple languages, you can find street name in 2 languages like this. Some even have 3.

Arrived in Netherlands that night. (mileage 2000km)
Next day, we hauled soo many bags to the train station, through the airport going back to Cork
And again this time, same as last time in Netherlands, that speed camera (probably the same one) cannot resist the temptation of taking my picture ...speeding!!!!??? Sorry again to Pak Chaq and auntie. Thank you very much for everything especially 'sambal belacan' as 'bekal' because without it, I don't think we can survive the journey.
All in all,..a very fulfilling journey...a GPS would be nice to have....probably on the next visit. The co-pilot I have is soo excellent that I am confident to traverse the challenging city of Brussel (although been warned by PakChaq) and we made it with little problem. Plus I have this small compass bought in Switzerland just to make sense of direction so we won't be going in circle.
